EAST EGAF holds 35th Meeting at the NVB in Amsterdam
The 35th Meeting of the EAST Expert Group on All Terminal Fraud (EGAF) took place on Wednesday 7th May 2025 hosted by the Dutch Banking Association (NVB) in Amsterdam. The hybrid meeting was chaired by by Christian Beine of Diebold Nixdorf.
The meeting was attended by 20 key representatives from Terminal Deployers, Terminal Vendors, Networks, Card Schemes, Security Equipment and Software Vendors, Law Enforcement and Forensic Analysts. 12 people were in the room and there were 8 virtual participants.
Experts from the following organisations contributed to the meeting: BNP Paribas, BKA, Cartes Bancaires, Cennox, Diebold Nixdorf, Dutch Banking Association (NVB), Europol, Geldmaat, GMV, KAL, Mastercard, NatWest Group, NCR ATLEOS, Payment Services Austria (PSA), Santander, Tietoevry, UBS, and Visa.
EAST EGAF, which meets three times a year in advance of each of the meetings of EAST National and Global Members, enables in-depth and technical discussion to take place on Card Data Compromise, Relay attacks, Logical and Malware attacks, and other issues relating to terminal fraud.
Discussion at the meeting focussed on recently seized devices related to card data compromise and to data relay attacks, and also on recent developments relating to relay attacks and ATM logical, and malware attacks. Presentations were given on the evolution of deep insert (M3/D3) devices and shimmers, on a national response to relay incidents, and on the experience of one ATM deployer relating to relay incidents at its ATMs along with related countermeasures.
EAST EGAF generates EAST Fraud Alerts and Security Updates for all EAST Members (National, Global and Associate). Work is on progress on a Fraud Alert and a Security Update relating to Data Relay Attacks.
