EAST presents at VII Eastern Europe EMA Fraud Conference

EMAEAST Executive Director Lachlan Gunn gave a presentation on “European ATM Fraud Trends 2014” at the VII Eastern Europe Fraud Conference organised by the Ukrainian Interbank Payment Systems Members Association “ЕМА” on 17th September 2014.

The event, which had a strong focus on cyber-crime prevention, was held in the Black Sea resort of Bugaz, Ukraine. Mr Gunn, who gave his presentation via remote link, spoke during the first session of the event entitled “International co-operation on payment instruments and credit fraud prevention in Eastern and Central Europe YY2013-2014”.

Olesya Danylchenko, Head of EMA’s Payment Instruments and Credits Security Forum, gave a presentation on “Payment Fraud Trends in Ukraine 2014: new threats – Cyber Skimming and Jackpotting in ATMs”. Ms Danylchenko is also the EAST National Representative Member for Ukraine.

Nikolay Daskalov, Card Center Risk Department Manager of United Bulgarian Bank, gave a presentation on “YY2013-2014 trends and statistics. Information concerning joint international operation, that takes down Bulgarian organized crime network affecting European payment instruments”. Mr Daskalov is also the EAST National Representative Member for Bulgaria.

Other presentations during the session were given by the Cybercrime Combating Unit of the Ukrainain Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), by the Cybercrime Unit of the Belarusian MIA, by the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation, by the Cybercrime Combating Division of the Georgian MIA, by the Fraud Prevention Unit of Bank BGZ S.A.(from Poland), by the Counterfeit Skimming Unit of General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Police of the Czech Republic and by the Anti-Money Laundering Unit of the State Service for Financial Monitoring of Ukraine.
